Joy, Peace and Love

“When we are mindful, deeply in touch with the present moment, our understanding of what is going on deepens, and we begin to be filled with acceptance, joy, peace and love.”

Dove 1

After the Christmas sewing is done and  still during the holiday season, I usually look for a pattern to make something to add to my Holiday collection of decorations.  This year, I found the pattern for this dove at DevoutGuilter.com.  I decided to set it on the square called “World’s Fair” that was published in the Farmer’s Wife book of New Designs and Patterns that was published in 1934.  The background fabrics are batiks.  The Dove is mixed fabrics all in neutral tones.

Dove 2The dark squares at the top and bottom are quilted with gold thread in a circular pattern in Joy, Peace and Love.  The letters were darkened with a navy blue sharpie.  I tried a couple of different metallic threads (Superior and YLI).  I decided to go with the YLI.  I didn’t break and was smoothest to use for hand quilting.Dove 3Closeup of the dove and the hand quilting
